The Bishop's Buttery, located in the historic town of Cashel, Ireland, is seeking a professional and customer-focused Food & Beverage Assistant/Waiter to join our esteemed fine dining establishment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences to our discerning guests.
- Welcome and seat guests, ensuring a warm and professional first impression
- Present menus, make informed recommendations, and answer questions about food and beverages
- Take accurate orders and communicate effectively with kitchen staff
- Serve food and beverages in accordance with fine dining standards and etiquette
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and wine selections
- Ensure tables are properly set and the dining area is clean and well-presented
- Process payments accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Assist in side work duties such as polishing cutlery and glassware
- Proven experience in food and beverage service, preferably in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and attentive demeanour
- Strong communication abilities in English, both verbal and written
- Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service standards and fine dining etiquette
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic maths skills for handling financial transactions
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems
- Food safety certification (e.g., HACCP) preferred
- Wine knowledge or sommelier certification would be advantageous
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry trays of food and beverages
