This position will be responsible for a range of general maintenance duties. At times this will be a physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting and involving a wide variety of assignments, some of which will be outdoors. The candidate must be physically able to perform such tasks in any type of weather, often with short notice. The successful candidate should be well versed in Guest Service, as they will have many opportunities to be dealing with guests, either in guestrooms or in public spaces.

Starting wage is based on experience and skillset.

As a Sr. Maintenance Technician you will:

  • Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux and AAA 4 & 5 Diamond Standards.
  • Be true to Our Service Promise, meet and exceed the service philosophies and standards of the Inn.
  • Be part of a team who is responsible for the daily maintenance of guestrooms and public spaces.
  • Be responsible for landscaping duties, general grounds work.
  • Handle project work such as painting, carpentry and equipment maintenance.
  • Be part of a team who is responsible for Interior and Exterior building maintenance.
  • Assist in helping to maintain a schedule-based program of preventative maintenance.
  • Handle equipment maintenance, including the upkeep of the bicycle fleet.
  • Manage furniture restoration and repair.
  • Work in the outdoors for a variety of tasks.

Our ideal candidate will embody the West Coast culture, while still being committed to the art of hospitality and pursuit of excellence. They will have:

  • Exemplary customer service skills and a demonstrated willingness to exceed guest expectations are the minimum expectations for all Wickaninnish employees.
  • A Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License. Applicants must be eligible for a BC Class 5 driver’s license and have a minimum of two years of clean driving experience in their home country.
  • A professional and groomed appearance.
  • A calm and capable demeanour.
  • A positive and proactive approach, ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Physical competence to complete strenuous tasks, including the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • An appreciation for a variety of work environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings in all weather conditions.
  • A passion for gardening, landscaping, and the art of preventative maintenance.
  • A willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with HVAC including electrical circuitry, both control and primary.
  • Previous experience with power tools required.
  • Certifications in First Aid and Forklift/aerial work platform operation an asset.
  • Red Seal or Trade Certification in Refrigeration, Gas Fitting, or Electrical are assets.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs, an asset
  • Familiarity using Excel, FileMaker Pro, and property management programs is an asset.
  • The ability to make a commitment to the position for a mutually understood and agreed upon period of time.

Salary/Wage: $26.00 per hour
